GROUND

Taejae University

Situated in Seoul’s Wonseo-dong, Taejae University’s main building is a modern glass structure built into the context of a traditional Korean hanok. The juxtoposition of Eastern architectural asethetics with Western contruction is a symbol of our university’s mission to build harmony between East and West. Taejae Hall was also inspired by the painting styles and furniture designs of ancient palaces and is complemented by a traditional Korean-style garden. The building was recognized with a 2005 Korean Architecture and Culture Award.

Inside is Baek Hongbeom's house, which dates back to the 1910s. It was designated as Folklore Cultural Property Number 13 in 1977 for preserving the elements of a traditional Korean small house.
