Privacy Policy

Taejae University Privacy Policy

All personal information handled by Taejae University (now referred to as 'the University') is collected, retained, and processed in compliance with the privacy protection regulations under relevant laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act.

1. The University, per the Personal Information Protection Act, has established the following policy to protect users' privacy and rights and smoothly handle user complaints about personal information.

2. In particular, for the University's websites handling personal information, we operate with a separate 'Privacy Policy' by Article 30, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Act and Article 31, Paragraph 1 of its Enforcement Decree.

3. In the event of changes to the privacy policy, the University will announce the effective date and the changed content through the website notice (or individual notice) to make it easily accessible to the data subjects.

① When outsourcing the processing of personal information, relevant details will be disclosed on the department or institution-operated websites for data subjects to verify.

② The University specifies compliance with relevant regulations regarding protecting personal information in outsourcing contracts and maintains records of contract details. In the event of a change in the outsourcing company, notifications will be made through announcements and the privacy policy.

③ To enhance and streamline customer service, the University may entrust the management of personal information to other companies within a limited scope. Article 5. Matters Regarding the Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

① The University, as a general rule, processes the personal information of data subjects within the specified scope for collection and use. Third parties will not provide personal information without the data subject's prior consent. However, personal information may be provided to third parties in the following cases:

1. When separate permission is obtained from the data subject

2. When there is a special provision in other laws

3. When the data subject or legal representative cannot express their intent, or obtaining prior consent is impossible due to reasons such as an unknown address, and it is deemed necessary for the urgent life, body, or property interests of the data subject or a third party.

4. When the performance of duties stipulated by other laws is impossible unless the personal information is used for purposes other than the original purpose or provided to third parties, and this has been deliberated and resolved by the Personal Information Protection Commission

5. When it is necessary to provide personal information to foreign information or international organizations to fulfill treaties or other international agreements

6. When it is necessary for the investigation of crimes, the filing and maintenance of charges

7. When it is necessary for the performance of judicial duties by a court

8. When it is required for the execution of imprisonment, probation, protective disposition

Article 6. Rights, Duties, and Methods of Exercising Rights of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives

① The data subject (referring to a legal representative if they are under 14) may exercise the following rights to protect personal information at any time:

③ If the data subject requests correction or deletion of errors in personal information, the personal information shall not be used or provided until correction or deletion is completed.

④ The exercise of rights under paragraph (1) may be done through a legal representative of the data subject or a person delegated. In such cases, you shall submit a power of attorney under attached Form 11 of the Notice on How to Process Personal Information.

⑤ Requests for suspending access and processing of personal information may restrict the data subject's rights under Articles 35 (4) and 37 (2) of the Personal Information Protection Act.

⑥ Requests for correction and deletion of personal information cannot be requested if the personal information is specified as the subject of collection in other laws and regulations.

⑦ It is verified whether the person who requested access according to the data subject's right, correction or deletion, or suspension of processing is the person who requested access or is the rightful agent.

Article 7. Procedures and Methods for the Destruction of Personal Information

① The University generally destroys personal information without delay once the purpose of processing has been achieved. However, in cases where other laws require preservation, the relevant law, article, and personal information items subject to protection are posted on the department or institution-operated websites for data subjects to confirm.

② The procedures, deadlines, and methods for destruction are as follows:

1. Destruction procedure: Personal information is either promptly destroyed or moved to a separate space and stored for a certain period by internal policies and other relevant laws before being killed. Personal information transferred to a different room is not used for other purposes unless required by law.

2. Destruction deadline: Personal information is promptly destroyed when the retention period expires, becomes unnecessary for processing purposes, or when the relevant business is terminated.

3. Destruction method: Electronic files are destroyed using technically irreversible processes. Personal information on paper is shredded or incinerated.

Article 8. Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information

① To ensure the security of personal information, the University takes the following measures:

1. Minimization and training of personnel handling personal information: The University designates and manages personnel taking personal information in a necessary number and provides training for secure management.

2. Access restriction to personal information: Access to personal information processing systems is controlled by granting, changing, and revoking access rights. Intrusion prevention systems are used to prevent unauthorized access from external sources.

3. Preservation and prevention of tampering with access records: Access records to personal information processing systems are stored and managed for at least one year (two years for systems processing personal information of over 50,000 data subjects or sensitive information) to prevent forgery and tampering. The records are securely stored to avoid unauthorized access.

4. Installation and periodic inspection/update of security programs: Security programs are installed and inspected to prevent personal information leakage and damage from hacking, computer viruses, etc.

5. Access control for unauthorized individuals: Physical storage spaces for personal information are separated, and access control procedures are established and implemented.

6. Encryption of personal information: Personal information is securely stored and managed through encryption. Additionally, unique security features are used for storing and transmitting important data.

7. The University has established an internal management plan to secure personal information processing.

Article 9. Installation, Operation, and Refusal of Automatic Collection Devices for Personal Information

① The main website of the University uses 'cookies' to store and periodically retrieve usage information to provide users with individualized services.

② A cookie is a small piece of information sent by the server operating a website to the user's computer browser and may be stored on the hard drive of the user's terminal (PC, mobile, etc.).

1. The purpose of using cookies is to Confirm the user login status and whether to display event pop-ups.

2. Installation, operation, and refusal of cookies: Users can refuse to store cookies by setting options in the top menu of the web browser > Internet Options > Privacy menu.

3. Refusing to store cookies may cause difficulties in using personalized services.

Article 10. Remedies for Privacy Violations

① Data subjects can apply for dispute resolution, counseling, etc., to the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee, the Korea Internet & Security Agency Personal Information Infringement Report Center, etc., to seek remedies for damages caused by privacy violations.

② In addition, those who have suffered harm to their rights or interests due to dispositions made by the head of a public agency or by other wrongful acts of the agency related to the exercise of the right to access, correct, or delete personal information may file an administrative lawsuit according to the Administrative Adjudication Act.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

① This privacy policy is effective from December 1, 2023.

Taejae University (from now on referred to as the 'University') informs you through the Policy for the Operation and Management of Video Information Processing Devices about the purposes and methods of how video information processed by the University is used and managed.

1. Installation Basis and Purpose of Video Information Processing Devices

This institution installs and operates video information processing devices for the following purposes by Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

- Facility safety and fire prevention
- Crime prevention for the safety of members
- Prevention of vehicle theft and damage

7. Measures for requests such as viewing personal video information from the data subject

If you wish to view, confirm the existence of, or delete personal video information related to yourself, you may request the video information processing device operator at any time. However, such requests are limited to personal video information in which you are captured, and explicitly, to personal video information necessary for the urgent protection of the data subject's life, body, and property. The institution will promptly take essential actions upon receiving a request for viewing, confirmation of existence, or deletion of personal video information.

8. Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Video Information

The video information processed by the university is securely managed through measures such as encryption. Additionally, as an administrative measure for protecting personal video information, access permissions to personal information are differentially granted. To prevent tampering with personal video information, the date and time of its creation, the purpose of viewing, the viewer, and the time of viewing are recorded and managed. Furthermore, locking devices are installed for the secure physical storage of personal video information.

9. Information Regarding Changes to the Policy for the Operation and Management of Video Information Processing Devices

This Policy for the Operation and Management of Video Information Processing Devices was established on September 01, 2023. In the event of additions, deletions, or modifications to the content due to changes in laws, policies, or security technologies, we will announce the reasons and details through the institution's website at least 7 days before implementation.
